About Us

This year, thanks to your support, the Humane Society of Central Oregon is celebrating six decades of providing physical, medical, and behavioral care for tens of thousands of abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals in Central Oregon.

In 1960 a grassroots collection of animal lovers made the Deschutes County Humane Society a reality and was incorporated on February 14, 1961. Our address has changed several times but our work to adopt pets into loving homes, reunite lost pets with owners and prevent overpopulation of animals continues to grow and expand with our Central Oregon community. Thank you Central Oregon, together hand in paw, we are creating a community responsible for animals.
